Breakfast in Italy - What to eat

Wondering what to order for breakfast in Italy ? I would suggest the classic "Cappuccino with empty cornetto".

Sometimes less really is more! If I've learned anything about Italian cuisine over the years, it's that keeping it simple is usually the best thing to do.

There are many breakfasts available in Italy, in this blog I will show you some of tastiest.

Every region has its own breakfast specialities and obviously I would recommend trying them all 😊 but I must say that whatever "sweet pastry" you choose, the protagonist will always be The Coffee.

Lets look together some of the Italians proposals for breakfast at the bar

Sicily have their typical sweet Brioche with granita (coffee flavour) - the original one must have the typical "lumpy shape" and you must start eating it from the top.

Tuscany has the "Colazione contadina" which is a selection of humble handmade cakes from the ancient tuscan tradition followed by a selection of local marmalades. Cappuccino is not always served  automatically (no issues asking for one). Tuscans usually drink a simple Coffee in the morning.

In Rome the favourite (not a light one) breakfast is Cappuccino with Maritozzo. Be prepared to have a late lunch after one of those 😁 The Maritozzo is filled to the limit with fluffy, delicious cream.

Venice serves a delicious "veneziana alla crema" with cappuccino.
